In order to give you a good idea of matters that you may encounter when renting as a tenant, such as additional costs and parking in the city center, we already provide answers to the most frequently asked questions.
Additional costs tenant;
Rental prices on our site are often the basic rental prices including service costs (subject to possible exceptions). Additional costs for the tenant are:
TV and Internet: approximately €35 (depending on the chosen provider)
Gas water and light:
1 person households average consumption €90,-
2 person household average consumption is € 140.
This is of course very dependent on your own living situation and the size of the house.
Municipal taxes: approximately €45 to €60 per month
Pets?
It differs per owner whether pets are allowed. Therefore, always indicate whether and what kind of pet you have, to avoid problems or ambiguity at a later time.
Take into account that dog tax can be charged with a dog. We also recommend that you take out insurance for a pet. Certainly in the case of renting a furnished home. In case of damage to the house, this can be recovered from the insurance.
In the municipality of Breda you will no longer pay dog tax from 2020 onwards.
Register in a (new) municipality
As a Dutch citizen you are obliged to register in the municipal personal records database (GBA). If you settle in the Netherlands from abroad for longer than 4 months, you are also obliged to register. This must be done within 5 days after arrival in the Netherlands or within 5 days after change of address. You can also pass it on one month before your move.
You can register via the municipality's online portal.
For settlement from abroad, you are obliged to personally go to the counter of the municipality of your new place of residence.
In all cases you must present a valid proof of identity.
Municipal taxes
As a user of a property you are obliged to pay municipal taxes. When you register yourself in the municipality as a resident, municipal taxes are also charged. The costs are as follows;
